The following abridged text is extracted from the “Roole des familles de l’Acadie” sent by Mr. Randin to Monseigneur Colbert from Québec City on 8 November 1671. It has been discovered that the original text by Franciscan friar Laurent Molins, reproduced by Geneviève Massignon in her thesis “Les Parlers Français d’Acadie,” is in the Paris National Archives, but it is easier to work from this more readable abridged version despite some discrepancies. Cooper—Pierre Lanoue, when asked his age, told me that he was in good health and did not want to give his age.
